These wannabe fashion designers made it from an original list that consisted 450 student contestants. And only one of them will represent India at the Smirnoff International Fashion Awards. Only one person will be able to display his creativity to international designers, media and potential employers on a global stage.
Only one person can go on to win the grand prize worth US $ 10,000. Last year, Sonali Rajeha from SNDT, Bombay, stood fourth worldwide, narrowly missing the runners-up position (second and third prize winners will receive US $ 2,000 and US $ 1,500 respectively). This year, the international winner could be any one of these finalists.
The finals will be held at Toronto on November 14. Where the judges will have the awesome task of bestowing the accolade of Best International Student Designer 1996 upon just one fashion designer, chosen from more than 6,000 contenders from 31 different countries, crossing four continents, representing cultures as diverse as Croatia, Israel, Japan, Spain and Iceland.
Life/Style presents the designs which will be displayed during the finals under the discerning eye of eminent Indian designers.
