The Burewala Express

Speeding in off a fast, long run, accelerating every step of the way, Waqar Younis announces himself to the batsman with a bang. The run culminating in a leap, and a classical sideways-on action, often has the batsman hopping and stumps flying.

When Waqar first burst on the cricketing scene, the West Indian bowlers ruled the roost. They believed in pitching it short and fast. 'The Burewala Express' bucked that trend by pitching it fast and full. In doing so, he earned himself a place among the greats of modern day cricket; indeed among the greats of any era.

Younis turned 31 on November 16. A look at an illustrious career destined for more glory.
