Does India have the bowling to do well in the WC?

Message: The fact is, We don't have. I would rate India's bowling line up to be the 6th or 7th among the cricket playing nations. The is a bit too bad to win a tournament like the World Cup. Sensibly assuming, Indian bowling line-up is going to do an average show in the World cup, there could be the exemptions as some occasional outings where Zaheer Khan or one of those 5th bowlers doing well, or the days when the overall bowling or fielding displaying some un-expected motivation. But summing up, it should get the reputation of an average attack, against whom teams can score runs comfortably. Saying that, India sure got the best batting line up in the world. They are going to win most of their matches because of their batting streangths, when they are winning. That way this is one of the least balanced side side in the world to win a onedayer, if anybody notice.

Message: With the batting pretty much set they would need to understand that to win the World Cup in SA, two specialist spin bowlers isnt be the way to go.They could either go with the same concept of picking seven batsman and then having 3 medium pacers and Harbhajan Singh as the specialist spinner.. The remaining 10 overs would then have to be bowled by Sachin/Sehwag/Yuvraj/Ganguly.. However, if in the remaining games leading to the World Cup if one of Bangar/JP Yadav/Agarkar then we could think of dropping Laxman for either of these to bat at 7 with Sachin moving up at number 3 which would in turn be the best thing for India..

Message: Although Zaheer bowls well, he does not have a partner to bowl with control, bowl economically and take wickets. Singh bowls well but again does not get much support from other end. And then we have flat wickets to bowl opposition out or restrict them. How? What's going on with the pitches, why can't we have the same kind as in England/Aus/SA? We have to provide this to our youngsters early to groom them from the beginning. And why can't we also produce consistent fast bowlers? For WCup, as the wickets would be fast, we should have 6 batsmen, wicket-keeper batsman, 3 fast bowlers + 1 spinner. Remember, our team has other part-time spinners who have been economical. We cannot produce a perfect allrounder in a few weeks so must have quality bowlers, and groom an allrounder for future. Keep experimenting until then, so what if we loose some matches, at least we can win the WCup. KP

Message: No India doesn't have the bowling. Indian selectors need to build fastbowlers around Zaheer. First of all drop Srinath and Agarkar. Ya they will pick a wicket here and there but eventually will come to their senses of bowling shot balls all the time. They need to develope fast bowlers because next 2 world cups will be played at tracks which support fast bowling.

Your views:the series going on btwn india and the west indies clearly suggests that the bwling of india is not upto the mark and the absence of zaheer khan was clearly felt.india has to work hard to strenghthen their bowling and only then think of winning the WC

And it's time for kumble to retire or he will have to face humiliation when being kicked out of the team like Mark Waugh. It would be better for him to quit for him and it's high time for him to play cricket. Khan is good but to win WC there such be 4 to 5 khans in team. Just one cann't do. Ganguly for me is still a question mark. Just see the condition of Indian team in the recent series against west indies without sachin and khan..... india cann't win the WC this time..... the winners will be south africa. Just a sachin or khan will not work for india. They need a team which can win consistently like aussies....... against the aussies india will be a pussy................

Message: I suggest Wright to experiment more with timu yohanan and Balaji(new) as much as possible before the world cup and sort out solid frontline Seam attack. If the team has 3 good seam bowlers and one spinner and 1 allrouder .. then india would be one of the hot favourites for WC

Message: I strongly feel that India does not have the bowling attack to compete well at the world cup in south africa. Zaheer seems the only consistent bowler in the indian team at this moment. Srinath and Kumble have come to the end of their careers are not that sharp. Harbhajan fights hard but the S. African pitches might not help him too much. Agarkar is a big joke. I think he does not have the attitude for the big game. I have n't seen one game where his economy rate is good.

Message: Zaheer Khan, Srinath and Harbhajan are pretty certain to be in the 11 and they are good enough to be there. Kumble would be a good back-up spinner. Agarkar desn't deserve his place as one of the top 3 specialist seamers. He can at best be accomodated as an allrounder or a back-up seamer. If India plays with 6 batsmen, a bowling all-rounder and 4 bowlers then Agarkar must compete for the bowling all-rounder's spot. Some good candidates for the all-rounder's spot would be Reetinder Singh Sodhi, Sanjay Bangar, J P Yadav and Laxmi ratan Shukla. We need 3 seamers in the 11 and one as a back-up. We only have Srinath and Zaheer Khan. Nehra has been inconsistent to say the least. I think we need 2 good seamers if we want to finish at the top in the world cup. One very good candidate would be Debashish Mohanty. He is experienced, has a good body language and most importantly, given a chance, he will be desperate to do well (recognising that this might be the last chance he is gonna get). For the last seamer's slot Youhanan/Balaji/Nehra should compete. As of now, following seems to be the best combination if we really want to do well in the world cup. Sachin, Ganguly, Shewag, Dravid, Yuvraj Singh, Kaif, Bangar, Harbhajan, Khan, Srinath and Mohanty. reserve seamer: Agarkar (he can also replace bangar for an all-rounder's slot if the latter gets injured) reserved spinner: Kumble (the fact that Kumble isn't in the final 11 always makes Bhajji put on his best effort) Reserved Batsman: VVS Laxman (can replace any one in the middle order without affecting the strength of the batting). Reserved Wicket-Keeper: P. Patel (only there for emergency of dravid getting injured). If we get the balance of the team right, we would be a very strong contender for the world-cup title.

Message: Well i strongly feell that we need to really give think thank to select our team...as i strongly feel that we have great chnace of winning world cup if our team is selected n groomed properly.I was a good fan of agarkar but i now i guess that he has been given enough chanced to prove his caliber but he has been not able to justify his selection so i dont think so that he deserve place in india n then i think that kumble has reduced to just bag n baggage n its high time that he sud retire.I strongly feel that we sud try young blood n we ssud give them apportunities to prove their worth.We have to build out pace battery in order to win the world cup ....as when competing with tough teams like SA or AUSSIES we cant afford to ..gift runs n then chase them.we have good youngesters playing at national level we can try them out n i think that they will definetly perform infact we sud give them lot of opputunities to prove themselves. Yes! we do have Zaheer Khan who will be leading the attack n then to support we have Nehra n then yes Bajji..but then what about..the rest of the two slots for bowlers...?i dont think that kumble or Bangar fit into the slot ..i think that one innings of his cant make him hearo n i saw the match in which he guided india to victory dont think so if he played any cricketing shots well so we can try him out but still i think that we sud more concentrate on finding genuine fast bowlers rather then gentle fast bowlers n yes we cud train them at MRF bowling foundation n try them out under the vulture eyes of lille i think he can be a great help to build on goo dfast bowlers n ofcourse spinners can learn from our old amunition of bedi n vankatgaghvan.. as far as batting is considered i dont think that we have any probs .Well when things comes to wicket keeping i think we sud habe 2 wicket keepers so that dravid can be rested in few games so that he can have break from wicketkeeping. i guess sqaud sud be somewhat like.... shewag, ganguly,dravid,tendulkar, kaif,yuvraj,harbajan,nehra, zaheer,( these r sure n generally will be playing in the final 11) the remaing squad can look like...srinath,bangar,laxman,prithvi patel,murali kartik( if he proves his worth) the remaing 2 guys must be searched n must be strictly bowlers or atmost dinesh mongia or two bolwers.as i think india has a very strong batting line up but the bowling departments is not that great n we need to give a real think thank over it.

Message: Obviously No. And we will also not find the real bowling talents with the present working-style of our captain. Without any doubt, Saurov deserves lot of credit for his captaincy but definitely he also has many short comings. Chief among them is that he behaves like he has to first convinced of a bowler's talent before the bowler can be given a chance to bowl. There are many incidents in the recent past where Ganguly has deliberately underbowled few of his bowlers just because he does not believe in them. The latest in this list is JP Yadav which includes Tinu Yohannan, Murali Kartik, Sanjay Bangar. Sehwag bowls 8 overs and Yadav, an alrounder who has merited his place through domestic performances, bowls 2 overs in an one-day match in which EXPERIMENT was the key mantra. On the other hand there few proven matching-losing bowlers like Nehra and Agarkar who seems to be in the preference list of Ganguly. If Ganguly does not show flexibility and EXPERIMENT with the real spirit then, this team with all its talent, zeal cannot really find a WC winning combination.
