Nifty gains 46.85 points, Midcap up 99 pointsPivotals firmed up moderately on the National Stock Exchange today on hectic buying support from financial institutions which witnessed a market improvement here. The total turnover stood at Rs 14.75 billion involving in 78.1 million shares in 218,154 trades. Reflecting the upward trend, the NSE-50 index increased by 46.85 points to 1206.30 points as against its previous close of 1159.45 points. The Dollar NSE-50 index also firmed up by 38 points to 1052.35 points over the previous day's close of 1014.35 points. The Midcap index also zoomed up by 99.15 points to 1630.20 points as compared to the previous day's close of 1531.05 points. About 724 securities have hit their price bands today. The top securities that witnessed hectic trading were ITC (Rs 2.9 million), SBI-N (Rs 1.7 billion), Tata Tea (Rs 1.4 billion), Reliance (Rs 1.3 billion), ACC (Rs 843.6 million), Castrol (Rs 477.9 million), BHEL (Rs 343.2 million), TISCO (Rs 304.7 million), TELCO (Rs 279.2 million), ICICI (Rs 240.9 million), Bajaj Auto (Rs 230.3 million), LML (Rs 221.1 million) and Glaxo (Rs 205 million). Other actively traded counters were MTNL (Rs 164.6 million), L and T (Rs 162.9 million), Hind Lever (Rs 146.4 million), Rel Petro (Rs 133.8 million), Bank of India (Rs 133.6 million), BSES (Rs 129.1 million), Satyam Comp (Rs 124.3 million), Wart Diesel (Rs 106.2 million), Sterlite (Rs 97.4 million), ICICI Bank (Rs 94.7 million), Pfizer (Rs 91.3 million), and Hindalco (Rs 84.7 million). The top gainers were IndoGulf (10.04 per cent), Rel Capital (10.04 per cent), IFCI (10.03 per cent), Orient Bank (0.03 per cent), and TVS Suzuki (10.01 per cent). UNI |
