Ford to set up its global accounting hqrs in IndiaThe United States-based Ford Motor Company is working towards making India the accounting hub of its global operations. The world's second largest car-maker has already set up a Ford Business Service Centre in Madras, which would provide back office accounting services for Ford establishments in the Asia Pacific region, company sources said. This is now being extended to the Europe operations and would later also undertake work for the headquarters in United States, the sources added. ''We have already bagged the contract for carrying out regional accounting for the Asia-Pacific region and are now trying for the Europe operations. With time, it would be expanded to take care of other Ford operations across the globe. In fact, it is likely that the business centre in India will be made hub for Ford's global accounting,'' a Ford official said. The centre, the sources added, got the contract against competition from Ford establishments in several other countries. The Ford business centre presently operates from Ford India Limited's former corporate headquarters in Madras. ''Under the job profile, all accounts from the region are transferred to the centre, processed and then sent back to the regional centres.'' The sources said, presently, investments in the project are minimal. Right now, the fledgling division employs just a few people. But in course of time, it would be requiring about 200 finance profesionals. UNI RELATED REPORTS: Ford not to launch global brands in India |
