Prices firm up further; Nifty gains a tad to 995.40

Share prices further firmed up marginally on buying support from bull operators and financial institutions on the last day of the current settlement, on the National Stock Exchange today.

Reflecting the uptrend, the S&P CNX Nifty edged up by 1.50 points to 995.40 points from 993.90 points of the previous day. The CNX Nifty Junior rose by 21.30 points to 1803.60 points from 1782.30 points and S&P CNX Defty inched up by 3.10 points to 806.60 points. The S&P CNX 500 appreciated by 1.74 points to 686.55 points and CNX Midcap 200 improved by 2.98 points to 612.52 points from 609.54 points.

Today, 420 securities gained, 567 declined, 78 remained unchanged while 52 securities have hit their price bands today.

Total turnover in 249,080 trades, involving 59.17 million shares, stood at Rs 15.10 billion and the debentures traded value was Rs 5.26 million.
