Maruti to raise production by 13 per cent in AugustIn a bid to service the spiralling demand for its passenger cars, Maruti Udyog Limited is all set to hike production by 13 per cent during August to over 44,000 units. The company is presently producing on an average over 39,000 units per month. ''This reflects that the new models have not been able to make a substantial dent in our market,'' a senior company official said. "The increased levels would be achieved with the commencement of second shift of production in the expanded capacity of 1,450 vehicles per day. And with the second shift of production at the new plant, we will add another 200 units per day.'' Zen production, the official said, is also set to touch a record level of 9,000 units in August. The company had in July registered its highest-ever sales of 35,528 units in a month in the car major's 15-year history. UNI
