Sentiment weakens, Nifty drops 10 points to 1412

Weak sentiment prevailed on the last day of the weekly settlement at the National Stock Exchange. Pivotals fell moderately on profit-booking by local punters and foreign funds.

Reflecting the sentiment, the S&P CNX Nifty opened at 1422.65, rose to a high of 1424.05 and fell to a low of 1409.55, before closing at 1412, showing a net loss of 10.60 points or 0.74 per cent over the last closing level of 1422.60.

The CNX Nifty Junior also fell by 26.45 points to 2524.40. The S&P CNX Defty declined by 8.15 points to 1125.30. The S&P CNX-500 fell by 6.30 points to 999.65, while the CNX Midcap-200 eased by 7.55 points to 907.75.

The NSE witnessed a total turnover of Rs 26.63 billion, involving 119 million shares. The debentures traded were valued at Rs 5.96 million.

Today, 376 shares advanced, 775 declined, 62 remained unchanged while 98 securities hit their price bands today.
