Indica sales rise by 11 pcCumulative sales for the Indica small car touched 18,407 vehicles as of August 31. Tata Engineering and Locomotive Limited has registered sales of 4,537 units in August as against 4,087 in July, an eleven per cent rise. Cumulative sales for the first five months of the current financial year have reached 16,241. From 1,676 cars in April, the Indica's sales have reached the current level of 4,537. This has helped the Indica to acquire a market-share of 6.5 per cent of the passenger car market in the April-July timeframe. Telco is confident of improving its position in the coming months. A company statement said sales of other vehicles from its stables touched the 2,600 level. Vehicles were from the utility and other segments of the domestic car market. In July, 2,172 vehicles were sold, registering total sales of over 7,000 vehicles from its passenger car operations. The company improved its market share in July in the utility vehicle range. In the last week of August, Telco has launched a lower price variant of the Sumo, which is expected to strengthen its position further.
