Pivotals gained marginally on the National Stock Exchange at the last day of current settlement, followings speculative buying support.

Reflecting the trend, the NSE-50 Index opened at 1065.90, touched the day's high of 1076.50 points, declined to the day's low of 1064.30, and later ended at 1073.35 points, showing a net gain of 7.45 points over the previous close of 1065.90.

The Madcap Index also drifted higher by 7.25 points to 1222.30 points over the previous close of 1215.05 points.

Total turnover on the NSE reported during the day was at Rs 11.7 billion.

ITC topped the list of turnover by registering the maximum business of Rs 4.6 billion, followed by Tata Tea Rs 1.3 billion, MTNL Rs 1.2 million, SBI Rs 762.8 million and Reliance Rs 770.5 million.

Hectic activity was observed at the other counters like TELCO Rs 372.8 million, ACC Rs 282.6 million, Satyam Comp Rs 240.5 million, TISCO Rs 194.9 million, L & T Rs 162.9 million, Hind Lever Rs 136.2 million, Castrol Rs 136 million, Hero Honda Rs 99.4 million, VSNL Rs 88.9 million, BHEL Rs 85.2 million, HPCL Rs 76.6 million, Bajaj Auto Rs 64.2 million, LML Rs 57.6 million, Colgate Rs 41.3 million, Ponds Rs 40.7 million, Hindalco Rs 36.9 million, Infosys Tech Rs 35.3 million, ICICI Rs 31.4 million, IPCL Rs 30.7 million and BSES Rs 30.3 million.

Among the gainers, MTNL gained by 6.44 per cent to Rs 236.30, TVS Suz up by 3.09 per cent to Rs 427.20, Cochin Ref increased by 2.96 per cent to Rs 166.85, ACC went up by 2.63 per cent to Rs 1191.45 and IndoGulf up by 2.27 per cent to Rs 40.55.

Among the losers, Essar Steel declined by 3.88 per cent to Rs 19.80, Themax down by 3.69 per cent to Rs 203.65, Ashok Ley moved down by 3.01 per cent to Rs 59.65, Tata Chem declined by 2.62 per cent to Rs 145.05 and Tata Tea down by 2.20 per cent to Rs 373.50.
