Jaadugar 1989

The film When Shankar (Aditya Pancholi) returns from the US with his girlfriend Mona (Amrita Singh), after their studies, they are shocked to find Shankar's father, Jagat Narayan (Amrish Puri), assume the role of a messiah otherwise known as MahaPrabhu.
The people in the village and nearby cities worship MahaPrabhu as he can perform miracles. But Shankar sees through that as poor magic tricks.
When MahaPrabhu shows Shankar his vault filled gold and money Shankar realises that he has been conning innocent people into giving money for his miracles. A movie that Amitabh initiated because the concept of a magician fascinated him.

What they say "The film was the first crack in our relationship. There was a lot of hurt and resentment on my side and I confess I let out steam on many an occasion." (Prakash Mehra)
"Toofan and Jaadugar are classic examples of what I thought the people would like." (Amitabh Bachchan)

The audience could never accept Amitabh Bachchan as a magician. Both Toofan and Jaadugar revolving around the same subject bombed.
