Strangled Woman's Family Wants Community To Express OutrageR S Shankar The family of Dr Deepti Gupta, who was murdered early this month, has asked the Los Angeles district attorney to prosecute fellow physician Kevin Anderson to the fullest extent of law. Anderson has admitted to killing her, according to the police. He is being held in a jail on a $ 1 million bail order. Dr Gupta, 33, mother of two young children was expecting her third. Her husband, Vijay Gupta, a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at the University of California in Los Angeles, wants the Indian American community to express its "outrage" and write letters to the prosecutors, demanding that Dr Anderson be given the maximum punishment. California has a death penalty and it is left to the prosecution to demand it. Professor Gupta has sent flyers to a number of Indian organizations and media castigating Dr Anderson. Dr Anderson was arrested by the police when a passerby noticed him pushing Deepti Gupta's car off a cliff in San Gabriel Mountains to make it appear that she had been killed in an accident. He reportedly told the police that he killed her in a moment of rage following a dispute over a business deal. But there are indications that she had been killed many hours ago, sources said. Vijay Gupta and his friends feel that Dr Anderson may try to win sympathy by pleading his professional achievement. He has been a pediatrician for many years. Just because he treated children, Professer Gupta asserted, does not mean he did not kill Deepti Gupta in cold blood.
