Conference To Pay Tribute To Myron Weiner

The conference, India and the Politics of Developing Countries: Essays in Honor of Myron Weiner, doyen in the field of Indian political studies in North America, is being held at the Kellogg Institute for International Studies, University of Notre Dame, from September 24 to 26.

Academics from Harvard, Princeton, and Columbia universities will join their peers from half-a-dozen schools to address key social, political and cultural issues India faces.

The Festschrift Conference starts on September 24 at 8 pm with a special presentation by Harvard University's Samuel Huntington: Reflections on Myron and Macedonia.

Transportation

The University of Notre Dame is located at South Bend, Indiana, about 90 miles east of Chicago, near the Indiana Toll Toad (Interstate 80/90). South Bend is served by the interurban South Shore Railroad from Chicago and by AMTRAK trains, east and west, daily.

Airline service to South Bend's regional airport is provided primarily by commuter lines of major air carriers from Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and St Louis, as well as major carrier jet service from Pittsburgh (USAir), Detroit (Northwest), and Cincinnati (Delta). The campus is easily accessible from the South Bend airport by a short taxi ride.
