Curfew imposed in Jammu, yatra abandonedCurfew was clamped in all districts of Jammu division and Amarnath yatra from Jammu to Pahalgam suspended following militant attacks on pilgrims and labourers, that has so far resulted in the death of 48 people. The divisional commissioner, Jammu, Anil Goswami told PTI that curfew has been imposed in all district headquarters as a "precautionary measure" to maintain law and order. Meanwhile, indefinite curfew was imposed in Pahalgam last night following the killing of Amarnath pilgrims. Goswami said the situation was under control in the winter capital and other district headquarters of Jammu division. Police and paramilitary troops were deployed in sensitive areas to enforce curfew regulations, he said. He said a central team comprising senior home ministry officials is expected to arrive in Jammu from New Delhi to assess the situation.
