E-Mail this report to a friend

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today said that with their high skills and professional commitment, Indian Americans have built bridges of understanding and friendship between the two countries.

In his message to the 53rd Annual Friendship Conference organised by Indian American Friendship Council, Vajpayee said that India and the United States enjoyed "a strong, vibrant and enduring relationship cemented and nurtured by common values of freedom, democracy and the rule of law."

Stating that Indian Americans had made impressive contribution in the fields of education, information technology and health, he said a vast potential for expanding and deepening these ties existed.

Vajpayee said he looked forward to his meeting with members of the Indian-American community during his visit to the US this September.

The conference, to be held in Washington on July 18, will be attended by about 400 members of the community, and 70 senators and Congressmen.
