My first film with Amitabh Bachchan was Shera, and I had a very small role in it.
We were both new to the industry at the time, so I couldn't comment about his capabilities.
The next film we did together was Kabhi Kabhie. I never thought the film would do so well. Together, we discovered we had excellent timing.
I have done seven films with him. In all that time, I've noticed that he is very professional, very punctual; he never interferes in other people's work, but concentrates on his own. As soon as he got his dialogues, he would go off somewhere to rehearse on his own, then he would come back and ask me, "Are you ready?"
It was pretty mechanical.
I am happy that in most of my films opposite him, I didn't have conventional roles.
I don't remember too much since it was all so long ago, but I remember we used to play chess and cards on the sets, sometimes we would also play antakshari
He was quite jovial on the whole, but there would also be times he would be off in a corner, brooding. But then, everyone goes through mood swings. He was no exception.
What can I say about him now? The world knows him for a superstar, what more is there to say?
